This article lists any games playable on the FunKey S that support hotseat multiplayer. While both homebrew and licensed games will be listed for the sake of completeness, only freeware homebrew games will have linked-to download pages, with licensed games having links to their Wikipedia pages, where applicable. Hotseat multiplayer games are split between into two lists: pass-and-play for games where two or more players take turns using a controller and simultaneous for games where two players use one controller simultaneously. Games that only use multiplayer modes other than hotseat, whether via the use of multiple controllers or a link cable, will not be listed as these capabilities are not forms of hotseat multiplayer and cannot be used on the FunKey S.
This article lists any games playable on systems officially emulated by the S (including the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Game Boy, SNES, PlayStation, and Game Boy Advance) that support hotseat multiplayer. These include both freeware and commercial games, with the former having linked-to download pages and the latter having linked-to Wikipedia articles, where applicable. Hotseat multiplayer games are sorted on the basis of their control scheme, either pass-and-play or simultaneous, with the former having turn-based multiplayer modes where the controller is passed around and the latter having real-time multiplayer modes where the controller is shared among participants. Games without an implemented hotseat multiplayer mode are not listed as the FunKey S does not support the link cables and additional controllers required for other multiplayer game modes.

The games on this page are divided into pass-and-play and simultaneous lists based on whether their multiplayer mode(s) can be played asynchronously or synchronously, respectively. For the ease of navigation, the games within the pass-and-play list are further subdivided based on theme (currently game shows, sports, strategy, or tabletop). Each entry on one of the lists has a game's name, a link to an its Wikipedia article (in the case of licensed games) or download page (in the case of homebrew games), release type (licensed, unlicensed, or homebrew), native system(s), and maximum player count. Game Boy Advance games that are highlighted in yellow are not emulated accurately in the default FunKey S GBA emulator, so should be played with an alternate emulator instead.

This article lists any games playable on systems officially emulated by the FunKey S (including the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Game Boy, SNES, PlayStation, and Game Boy Advance) that support hotseat multiplayer.

Inclusion criteria

To ensure the accuracy of these lists as much as possible, a number of inclusion criteria are being used:

 • Games must have at least one section, minigame, or mode designed to be played by two or more players synchronously or asynchronously using one controller on one console. Games without any intended form of multiplayer or with a multiplayer mode that requires two or more controllers and/or consoles cannot be included.
 • Games must be in English or playable without understanding another language. This criteria is used to ensure that the multiplayer features of a game can be ascertained during the research process.

While the editors have attempted to make these lists as comprehensive as possible, there are likely several games that may need to be removed or added based on the above criteria. If you know of any such games, feel free to modify the lists yourself or inform the wiki admin.

List contents

This article currently lists 266 games, with 12 of these being simultaneous and 254 being pass-and-play. Of the pass-and-play games, 29 are arcade games, 12 are game show games, 17 are pinball games, 7 are platformer games, 112 are sports games, 13 are strategy games, and 64 are tabletop games. When taking into account multiple platform variants of each game there are 350 games in total, divided into the following categories:

NES         17
Game Gear     22
Master System  12
SNES          24
Turbografx-16  1
PlayStation     48
Lynx          4
Game Boy Color 43
Genesis      33
Wonderswan    2
Game Boy    50
GBA          91

Of the following 266 games with hotseat functionality 13 are homebrew, with links to ROM download pages for those games being legally available. If more games from the wiki's homebrew game database are found to have hotseat multiplayer capabilities, they will be added to this page as well.

Pass-and-play

The following games have one or more asynchronous multiplayer modes where all players pass around one controller.
